Welcome to the Astoria/LIC International Film Festival
We are proud to present the first annual Astoria/LIC International Film Festival in Astoria/LIC, New York. The festival will run from October 22 to October 24, 2010. The festival will strive to promote an open and nurturing environment for artists, writers, actors, filmmakers and fans, and will focus on offering great networking opportunities for its participants. There will be film screenings, short story and script readings, panel discussions, and, of course, parties! Please join us as we start off on a great new tradition and an exciting journey.
The Astoria/LIC Int’l Film Festival is excited to announce a partnership with two new entertainment websites: a new online magazine and an online media broadcasting company. The online magazine will publish literary, mystery and popular fiction as well as excerpts from novels, poetry and true stories of life. The media site will broadcast and sell music, movies, shorts films, original variety shows, music videos and more. Both sites will be premiering in June/July of 2010 and will offer the option of being published or broadcast on their websites to the submissions selected for the Astoria/LIC Int’l Film Festival the festival.
The Fan Awards - As the fans listen to the readings or watch a film, they will vote for the pieces they think are the best in each category. The pieces that win the most votes in each category will be presented with The Fan Award during our closing ceremony on Sunday evening.
Stay tuned for more updates!!!
If your submission is selected, we will notify you by August 30, 2010 by email. If you win in the feature film, short film, or student category, you will be given free admission to the festival. If you win in the short stories, poetry and super short film category, you will get a day pass to the festival the day your work is shown. All winners may speak after their film is shown (if in a film category) or participate in the readings (if in the script, short story or poetry categories.) You may also choose to be part of one of our panels. We cannot help with any transportation, food or housing costs. (It is our first year!) If you are selected to be in the festival and want to be a part of the festivities we need to know by October 1, 2010 so we can make arrangements such as number and size of panels, readings length, etc. Please note only excerpts of scripts and short stories will be read.
